This is my 31st year teaching science (Biology, Environmental Science, and Forensics) at...oh no....our high school rival....Frederick high School....lol....
After high school, I graduated from James Madison University (B.S. Biology with teaching certification). I began teaching at FHS right away. Also began classes at Hood College and earned a masters of Biomedical Science degree, Admin I, and Admin II certification. Have Masters plus 30, National Board Teaching Certification and am presently taking Doctorate classes in educational leadership at George Washington University.
Although I do not have children of my own, I have been blessed with wonderful parents and two wonderful brothers (My Mom passed away in 2005 and my brother, Doug, passed away in 2010. I miss them more than I can express but I keep them in my heart everyday.). I also have three incredible nephews. I guess my greatest pride is being Aunt Shelley.:)
I was also blessed to meet and marry Dennis Miller from Thurmont (attended Catoctin High School).
I have focused on and enjoyed teaching for many years, and have recently learned to try to "work" a little less and focus on enjoying life's personal joys more intentionally. Balancing both work and a life outside of work is my present aim.
You know I remember high school so fondly that there are many favorite stories. I must say that sitting in Mr. Peiffer's math class watching the wad of paper spitballs being (affectionately) fired into David Heidrick's hair is as vivid as if it happened yesterday! =-)

I just want to say thank you to all who make the communication/connections among our TJ Class of 1980 possible. I know there are many "behind the scenes hours" that go into keeping us connected. Please know those efforts are sincerely appreciated! The 35th was a wonderful event! I will try to increase my number of visits to this website. Thank you! Shelley
