After graduating from High School, I went on to Olivet Nazarene University where I recieved my B.S. in Elementary Education.
I met Steve Sears at ONU and we were married in May of 1995. I moved to South Bend, Indiana in '95 and began teaching Kindergarten that fall. In '98-'99 I took a job in a 6th grade classroom, moved to Elkhart, Indiana and I had my first child Hannah. I decided that the best thing that I could do for Hannah was to stay home with her. In '01 I had Noah and stayed home with both kids for the next 6 years. When the kids were both in school, I decided that I would substitute teach only at Pinewood where my kids go to school. I really enjoy this and stay very busy but also have the freedom to go with my kids on fieldtrips and help out when needed.
My parents still live in Freeport, so I do get back to the area a couple of times a year. It's always nice to come back and visit and be reminded of great memories of growing up. Sometimes I think it's good to leave the place that you thought you couldn't wait to get away from so that when you do come back to visit you actually appreciate it.
