Obituary for Lynette Frieda Standridge

Lynette Frieda Standridge was born in Freeport, TX on January 31, 1952 and passed away on March 7, 2018. She will forever be remembered and loved by her husband and best friend of almost 45 years Johnny Standridge and her son, Josh, daughter-in-law, April and two grandchildren, Aiden and Alyssa. She will also be fondly remembered by her father and mother-in-law, Bob and Doris Standridge; two sisters-in-law, Sue Standridge Cole and Sherry Standridge Burkett and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless students and friends. Lynette was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Virgie Frieda and her grandson, Austin Standridge. Lynette’s calling was a Kindergarten teacher, a profession she held for 32 years. She was young at heart and truly loved each of “her” children as her own. Lynette was a bright light in the lives of many. She was full of life and love, there’s nothing that she wouldn’t do for those around her. The family is holding a Celebration of Life in the Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel in Tyler, TX on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. This will be followed by a Graveside Service at Old Smetana Cemetery in Bryan, TX at 3:00 p.m.

Lynette was very kind to me and welcomed me into her group when I went to Sam Houston State during mid-term.  Welcoming someone into your group when they do not have a group is a very selfless compassionate thing to do.  I have tried to live up to the lesson she taught me through her kindness.  Blessed be to Lynette and her family,.  Janice Kettles

Heartfelt condolences to Johnny, Josh, April, Aiden and Alyssa.

Lynette and I spent hours in our high school band, side-by-side, which continued at Sam Houston State.

Her quick witty humor always kept me laughing, as I imagined she carried on throughout her life.

Too many of our high school friends have left us, and now it is Lynette's passing that has saddened me the most.
