Deborah Marie Horner, 65, of Lake Jackson, Texas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 27, 2017.
Deb was born February 10, 1952 in Sealy, TX to Harvey and Mary Speir. She graduated from Brazosport High School and earned her Bachelor Degree in Social Work from Southwest Texas State University. Deb met the love of her life, William Horner, while working at DOW Chemical Company. Bill and Deb lived in many areas of Texas and also spent nine years working and living in Saudi Arabia. While in Saudi Arabia they loved to travel, camp out in the sand dunes, and collect arrowheads.
Deb had a passion for the outdoors. She loved feeding the birds, growing flowers, collecting rocks, looking at the night sky and scuba diving in the ocean. Her dogs were her children. When it came to loving and pampering, they came first. She would spend the majority of her grocery bill on the dog’s food, treats, and toys. Deb was an avid reader and loved to watch old black and white westerns. Her favorite food group was dark chocolate.
Deb is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Mary Speir and three of her four legged children: Sundance, Hercules, Jolie and Sammy.
Deb is survived by her brother and his wife, Ron and Sheree Speir of Lake Jackson; her niece Jenni Speir of San Antonio; her nephew and family, Michael & Megan Speir, Sofia and Judah of Richwood; cherished relatives, Betty Sue McAlpine of Eldorado, Texas; Sarah Collins of Tennessee; and cousins Brenda, Anne and Keith Hamby of Dallas, Texas.
A visitation will be held at Stroud Funeral Home on Friday, June 30 from 9:30am to 10:45 a.m. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Jackson SPCA in her memory.
