What Elementary School Did You Attend?

Raymond

Tell us about your life and travels since FUHS:

Two days after HS graduation I was attending summer school at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Not a great way to start college, but that's what the University of Colorado required! I left there after 3 semesters, eventually graduating from Cal State University Humboldt. I have worked as a teacher and writer my whole career (living mostly in Santa Monica, CA). I lived in Wisconsin for 10 years w/ a 1st husband who taught college theater. Then I came home to get warm! I have worked as a classroom teacher and a studio teacher with child actors on the sets of movie and theater productions; as a writer in the marketing dept of a big accounting firm; as a communications analyst for a non-profit public policy research company; and more recently as a landscape designer specializing in drought-tolerant gardens. Life is good with my 2nd husband, a dog, and our house in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. The front page article in a past LA Times was about the tumultuous year of 1968. We baby boomers saw a lot of change in a short time, didn't we?! I have been very lucky and am very grateful. I have made so many mistakes, yikes! But have few regrets--so far.

Best FUHS School Memories:

Friends, teachers, speech and debate tournaments, modern dance, football games, Featherettes, walking to and from school with friends, learning stuff. I treasure those years and you, my friends.

Who Was Your Favorite Teacher?

I liked so many of my teachers...
Mrs. Frates, I now read history for fun. Mr. Alfred, I have come to appreciate Algebra and I think I get it now. Mr. Oseid, I majored in English. Mr. Daniels, I would like you to know that I love biology and all the sciences. I like plant taxonomy and still remember "Keep Police Cars Off Fullerton's Great Streets." Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. Mrs. Cables, I still can't make myself understood in French. Mrs. Chaconas, you were tough but good.
