Mike was just terrific in his 2nd lead part (his Sr. year) in the Sound Of Music. I was in the chorus... he was a nice guy too, he complimented me with no reason once. For a kid who was more often made fun of... or given sarcastic fake praise, it was the sort of thing that gave me hope for later.

Although we weren't close friends outside of school, Mike and I were in theatre together. He as a decent actor with comedic skills. And he was a good singer - something else we shared. I remember him doing crazy things, just to shock and make people laugh (like going to kiss a girls hand, but licking it instead). He was a joy.
