Oh my! One BIG memory . . . Cindy, Ginger Salter, Vicki Bitton and I had a slumber party at Ginger's house. I can't remember if we stayed up all night or if we set the alarm to get up. We all got on our bicycles, rode around the neighborhood and watched the sun come up!!! For 6th graders THAT was a real experience!!

Most of my memories of Cindy are from when we played softball together. I was the catcher, Cindy was third base, Kathy Harrison was first base and Crystal Ward was our pitcher! It was great! Crystal could really fire those balls in! One game in paraticular . . . the other team had a really tall girl. We always wondered if she was really in our age group. Anyway, she ALWAYS hit homeruns. In this game one of her hits was not as good as her usual. We all kind of chased her around the diamond trying to get her out at each base. Well, that never happened . . . so for one last attempt, Cindy threw the ball to me to get her at home . . . I have been short all of my life . . . when I saw that giant running toward me, with every intention of getting to that plate, no matter what she had to do, I decided to let her have it!! The plate that is . . .

I guess the thing I remember most about Cindy is her smile. I really don't think I ever saw her without that beautiful smile. I got to see her when she was in "my" hospital. Even then, she had that wonderful smile! She is truly missed.

Cindy was indeed one of my closest friends. We went to school together since 3rd grade at Beaver, through high school and even some classes at Eastfield College. Then low and behold, she came to work with me at Kroger for a few years. She loved life, loved to have fun and wow what a great laugh she had . . . if you weren't laughing when she started laughing, you would be shortly . . . just couldn't keep from it! I've been to every reunion with her and this one will be a sad occasion without her by my side. I loved her like a sister! Miss you sista!

It's funny how the heart is. You can be transported back in memories and feel as though it were yesterday. I went to school with Cindy from the second grade thru 12th. She was one of my best friends. There was a bunch of us that lived in the same neighborhood -- Kathy Harrison, Ginger Salter, Cindi Richarz, Liz Wheeler, Sheila Chandler, Vicki Hughes, Crystal Ward, Marcie (her last name escapes me) and lots more.

Cindy was the funniest. If you were around her, it was fun. We all were in love with the Beatles. At Bussey, four of us "became" the Beatles. I'm not sure who started it or why. :>)) Cindi Richarz was Paul, Ginger was George, I was Ringo and Cindy was John. I think Marty Stricklin was our manager. I think mine was the only nickname that stuck (I preferred it over "Maynerd" which Crystal called me all the way thru high school). My Mom called me Ringo well into my 40's.

It broke my heart to see Cindy's name here. I haven't seen Cindy since the 10th year reunion, but to know that the one that brought so much laughter into my life is gone is so sad to me. Cindy had gifts that set her apart from anyone else. I'm so thankful I knew her. I will look forward to seeing her again.

Hearing that Cindy had died just broke my heart. We were both only children and more like sisters than friends throughout high school and college. She had a quick wit, contagious laugh, and beautiful smile that greeted everyone she met.

During college, we went to "Explo 72" together and had such a great time meeting and sharing with Christians from across Texas. I know that I will see her again because she placed her faith in Jesus Christ...just as Rusty shared at the reunion Sat. night. The heavenly reunion where I get to see her again will be the BEST of all!
