Barbara Hanna Olson

I graduated from Erskine College and worked in Christian Education in Columbia, SC until I married Carl. We moved to Western PA where we lived for 8 years. Both children were born during that time. I started teaching elementary music in PA and continued when we returned to NC in 1974. I even taught in good old Gastonia for 3 years. We moved to Raleigh in 1977 for Carl to return to school at NCSU and we have been here ever since. I returned to grad school at NCSU in 1989 and got an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction in 1991. The 90s saw me move from teaching to administration in both Wake County and Durham Public Schools. I retired from the public sector in 2004 and finished my career as principal of Faith Lutheran School in Raleigh. I finally managed to completely retire in January 2007. About time!
Carl is now retired and we somehow stay very busy. Travel is part of each year. We went to Rome and Israel in November 2008 and plan to go to Austria and Slovakia this smmer. Vienna and Salzburg are "my" parts of this trip. I want to finally see where the musicians I have played all these years lived. Carl's maternal ancestors were from eastern Slovakia, so he wants to look up some relatives. This should be interesting! By the tme we get to the reunion we should have some tales to tell!
