Sherry Autry Smith

After High School, I attended Belmont Abbey College and graduated with a BA in Biology in 1992. I attended Presbyterian's School of Histotechnology and graduated in 1993. I'm a certified Histotechnologist. I worked for Carolina's Medical Center for 7 years as a Histotechnologist in the Pathology Department. I left in 2000 and took a position as Histology Supervisor in the Pathology Department at Presbyterian Hospital. I was married in 1997 to Rick Smith from Concord, NC. We divorced in 2005.

I took a position with Ventana Medical Systems in 2005 as a Technical Applications Specialist. I traveled extensively within the Mid Atlantic and South Region and installed instrumentation for the testing of tissue based cancer diagnosis in Pathology Labs. I also worked with Antibodies, FISH, and Insitu Hybridization including Image Analysis. I was recently promoted to Area Support Manager over the South Region. Working for Ventana Medical Systems has been the most rewarding and challenging experience of my career.

I met Johnny Quinn lll in 2005 and moved to Merritt Island, FL in 2006. Johnny is a Captain on the Airbus A320 with United Airlines. He has two wonderful children, Kailee and JQ IV. In addition, we have 2 crazy Jack Russell Terriers... Penny and Nickel. We love to travel and hope to have a retirement condo in the Bahamas one day.

My most memorable events are Cheerleading in the 10th grade with Karen Crisp and taking the spirit stick at Cheerleading camp. Also, Friday night football games and passing out brochures as a JV Cheerleader.

I recently met a Pathologist (Dr. Nichols) in Lenior, NC (Caldwell Memorial) who graduated from Ashbrook High School and Belmont Abbey College. When he found out I graduated from Hunter Huss and Belmont Abbey and that I was a G town girl, he was like a little kid all over again. We must have spent an hour just talking about the good ole days. By the way, he claims that he and several others are the ones who left the coffin on the football field. I don't remember that ever happening while at Huss.??
