Since high school I have managed a toy store, worked as a photo technician, nanny, organizer, grocery store clerk, secretary, DJ (I know, right!) and tutor.
After leaving Huss I went to UNC-G for a semester (home sick!) and then in and out of Gaston College three times trying to decide what I wanted to be when I grew up. =) After finally transferring to UNCC I found my passion as an elementary school teacher. After seven years in the classroom, I decided to try my hand in the school library and fell in love! This career change sent me back to school again (I think I like being a perpetual student more than anything), I attained my Masters degree on line through East Carolina. Go Pirates! I taught in an elementary library for three years and have now graduated to a high school Library Media Center. I work at Highland School of Technology in my dream job as the "Media Goddess" aka Librarian/Media Coordinator and I teach the coolest class in the building, Video Production and Broadcasting, a weekly news show with SNL type skits. Todd (Glisson) always thought I'd go back to Huss and be Mrs. Hewes! This is pretty close! The kids there are amazing! They call me Ms. L, Mama L, or just Ma! They keep me young, I am currently learning to "step" and know most of the urban slang! (Did we do this?!)
Stuart and I married in 1992, after 15 years of marriage separated, sorry no scandal here, we just grew apart. We are friends and are working to co-parent our three beautiful children. Thomas (10 yrs) was born in 1998, John Stephen (5 yrs) in 2004 and finally Miss Anna (18 mos) in 2006. I enjoy being a Mommy more than anything; they keep me pretty busy with karate, soccer and just daily life. I love my kids more than I could have ever imagined that I would (you know, that throw yourself in front of a bus for someone love)!!! I am living a pretty good life, I can't complain, I have been blessed in every way.
