Danny was one of those friends you could count on when others were heading in the other direction or looking for an excuse for not being there to assist.  He did not seek the spotlight, rather being the guy who simply said…I will. His passing is a tragic and wholly unnecessary loss to us all.

Clara Wetzell (Harris)

1972 Ashbrook High School graduate Danny “Dan”Charles Jarvis was born October 18, l954.  He and his wife, Linda Paschall Jarvis, also an Ashbrook graduate, died May 11, l996 in the Florida Everglades aboard ValuJet Flight 592.  All 110 passengers and crew members perished in the fiery crash.

Theirs was a remarkable love story.  Dan and Linda met at Ashbrook High School and dated, but eventually went their separate ways and married other people.  Later, discovering each other single again, they married in April, l993, at First Presbyterian Church, Gastonia.  Dan owned Brumley Printing Company and served as First Baptist Church organist.  Linda was a dental hygienist with Dr. G.W.Howard in Kings Mountain, NC.

Linda was a “glass-half-full” person with a sparkling-white-teeth smile.  She lived with joy and vibrant Christian faith.

Dan is remembered as a loving brother, son, husband, uncle, mentor and friend.  He was a man of unwavering Christian faith.  He possessed keen intellect, extraordinary musical talent, and a delightful and zany sense of humor.

Dan and Linda will be forever loved and cherished.  On their grave maker is inscribed “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord…Psalms 100:1”

Lovingly submitted,

Dan’s sister, Sharon
