For weeks I have been trying to decide on what stories I wanted to share about Cam. There are a lot of great memories. I have narrowed all of these memories down to a few that I think most of you have never heard.

The year after high school graduation, Cam, Jerry Eller and Frank Klaus came down to visit Margie and I at OU. Cam brought a new car with a large camper towed behind it. He parked the camper on a old country road outside Athens where there was very little, if any, traffic. Margie and my girlfriend, at the time, lived in the same dorm. The dorm was having a mixer that weekend so the girls fixed up Jerry and Frank with other girls from the dorm. We had a great time but the girls had to be back at the dorm at midnight. Us guys went back to the camper and continued drinking. At some point Jerry decided it was a good idea to go outside the camper and get sick. He ended up asleep in the street and we could not wake him up so we left him there. All of a sudden we heard a car coming down the street so Frank and Cam charged out of the camper and pulled Jerry out of the way. We all sobered up after that!! Anyway, we all had a great weekend. On the drive back to Geneva, the car engine blew up. I remember Jerry and Frank telling me that the reason the engine blew up was because Cam had the gas pedal floored most of the way.because of the large camper.

A few years later I had just returned from Vietnam and was on a 30 day leave, I decided to visit Cam, Margie, and my old girlfriend down at OU. We all went to a bar call the 33 Club because it was on Route 33 outside Athens. When we arrived, Cam started telling everyone that I had just returned from Nam and everyone started buying me beers. It was the best "Welcome home" I could ask for and much better than most returnees received. All thanks to my good buddy Cam!

Years later when I was working in Cleveland and dating a girl from Mentor, she and I parked down by the lake and I got my car stuck in the mud. We hitchhiked a ride back into Geneva and I used that phone in the center of town (remember that?) to call my friend Cam. Cam instantly went into action by getting their tow truck and pulling the car out. We spent the rest of the evening with Cam and Margie telling stories and having a ball
.

Over the years I would always try to spend as much time with my parents as I could whenever I went back home but I always knew where I could find Cam. At the Marcy's dealership. One time I dropped into the dealership and Cam invited my wife (Jackie) and 10 year old son (John) over to his new house where he stored his Dodge Viper. Cam took my Son for a ride in the Viper. At one point my son called using Cam's cell phone and told my wife he was going 120 MPH down the freeway! My wife would have passed out right then but she has always said that knowing our son was with Cam she knew would be OK. My son tells of his experience with Cam and the Viper to this day.

Cam would tell my wife and son the best stories about our younger days throughout the years and I think he would be happy I told these to all of you. Cam once asked me "why have you never bought a car from me". I told him that I never wanted a "lousy car" to break up a great friendship. I knew Cam as a really great guy with a big heart. He is truly missed.
