Popeye as he was known to all of us was another great friend. The memory that always jumps out when I think of him is the time when all the seniors were in the gymnasium to listen the the pitches from the five branches of service.  Afterwards they broke into separate areas for specific Q&A. I was sitting with Kenny Shells in the bleachers as I had all the intention of going to college.  Popeye walks up and suggests that we go talked to the Marine Corps recruiter.  Kenny talks me into going over and along with Ken Klinger we all agree to sign up on the "buddy" plan.  Of the four of us the one guy to back out at the last minute was Popeye.  I never got the chance to ask him what happened.  He was the trainor for the sports teams and took his responsibility very seriously.  The Geneva coaches were lucky to have him.  God bless Denny.

Popeye was my catcher in little league. Got many chewings from him for not getting the signs right. Got them right but couldn't throw the pitch.Have fond memories of him and other classmates.
