Tim was a really sweet boy at Cork Elementary where we spent six years in class together. I remember him as always being so nice and smiling most of the time. As we continued on to junior and senior high school in Geneva (the big city), we didn't see lots of each other; but we always greeted each other in the halls and knew that we shared a special tie as fellow "Corkers". My last memory of him when he was alive was seeing him at one of our reunions (perhaps our 35th) where I met his wife whom he had recently married. He was so very happy and jubilant when he introduced me to her. So very sadly, I learned a few years later that he had died in a tragic motorcycle accident in Alaska  where he had traveled with some of his friends. In 2008, my husband and I decided to visit Alaska for a couple of weeks, rented a car in Anchorage and explored. We traveled north to Denali National Park to see Mt. McKinley; and as we were returning from there, I had the most amazing experience--one I will always remember. Along the highway, there were signs posted every now and then that were memorials to those who had died on that road. I wasn't really paying much attention to the signs; but my mind was suddenly jolted, and I asked my husband to turn around so that we could carefully read the sign that we had just passed. Unbelievably, it was a sign that was dedicated to Tim that reminded us all to be careful in our travels. We were and are connected!
