If we took a poll among the women in our class and asked if they ever had a crush on Al Molnar during their junior and senior high school years, I'm sure that probably half would admit that they had at some point. He had a wonderful smile, a quiet demeanor and charm; and he was a great dancer as well.

When we were in high school, Al and I went to a dance that was sponsored by the Rainbow girls; and I was very happy to be the only one he danced with! It was a great evening, and he was as polite and charming as I always expected him to be. Unfortunately for me, when we arrived home and came into our kitchen, my father was sitting at the kitchen table with a shotgun laid out before him!!! (We lived in the country, and he had heard some strange noises outside!) Needless to say, Al didn't stay long; and I never got the goodnight kiss that I was hoping for! (At our recent reunion, I learned that one of my close high school friends HAD been kissed by Al, though! Lucky girl!!)

Hi Ruth,

Al grew up across the street from me and was like a brother. There were 3 of us from our class living on Garfield Street -- Al, Bob Clarke, and me. We had a great childhood on Garfield Street with hopscotch, kickball or softball during the summer and playing in the fields at other times. In my photos that my mother took or in the 8 mm movies that she made is a picture of the boys on the street dressed up like girls. We had great imaginations!

Al was a really good dancer. Unfortunately towards the end of his life he was a quadriplegic.

Dianne
