Bill Pevec went to Cork Elementary School along with about 20 other students from our high school graduating class, and I have only the nicest memories of him. He was always very kind and seemed thoughtful in everything that he did, even when he was in elementary school. At some point during our school years, we learned that Bill had tragically lost his father when he was very young, and many people felt that this eventually led to his own tragic end. Unfortunately, I didn't know him as well as I would have liked, but I do know that none of us who went to Cork will ever forget him.
Bill was a great friend. After graduation we used to hang out quite a bit and had many good times. We were going to join the Air Force together but I ended up joining the Army instead. As memory has it, Bill may have served a year or so and then went back home. I remeber serving in France when my mom told me that Bill had died. So I think it was 1967 or 1968. His mom's name was Alma and she was always feeding us when we were at his house. Larry was his brother but I lost track of him when I went to the Army. I was never able to track the family down when I got back in 1969. He is missed! RIP my friend!
