Like lots of us, I went to UW after graduation. After five years, they gave me a BA in Dance (I'm sure that comes as a surprise) and another one in Romance Linguistics. While working on my dance degree, I grew tired of performing and discovered stage management. The best way to describe what a stage manager does is this: whenever you go see a play, opera, ballet, whatever, whenever anything changes - the lights change, sets move, sound effects happen - it is because the stage manager told it to. In 2004 I was offered a job as the Assistant Stage Manager for the Pacific Northwest Ballet and in November of 2006 I was promoted to Production Stage Manager. So, if you ever go see the ballet and dig deep enough through the program, you'll eventually find my name - though I've heard it helps if you have a magnifying glass. In my new position I get to tour with them as well. Our next tour will take me to the exciting town of Portland! But we also get to go to places like Palm Springs, Santa Fe and Vail. I keep hoping we'll eventually go somewhere exotic and am confident we will at some point before our 25th high school reunion.
My family now consists of myself and my 4-year-old hedgehog, Taz. We have a very one-sided relationship; I keep her cage clean, her nails clipped, take her to the vet when she is ill, make sure she always has water and food and in return I get poked whenever I pick her up. Lucky for me, hedgehogs are not like porcupines - she cannot shoot her quills and they are not barbed, so at worst it feels like getting pricked with a needle. Taz and I recently allowed a man named Bradley to move in with us. He seems to be a good fit; he opens jars and fixes things when they are broken. We're sort of hoping he stays around for a while.
I evidently also write novels, as exampled here. I am super excited to see everyone again and find out what everyone has been up to! See you in July!
Um, well, my entire high school career involved "The Band Clan." All of my favorite memories include those people and the absolutely retarded things we did. My favorites include "Crazy for You," the caboose, swimming at Erika's house, the 18 thousand Clue parties everyone endured for me and the Aladdin themed party at Leilani's.
