It is with great sadness we announce the death of Joan (Beaton) Gillis, who passed away on Thursday, Nov.6, 2003 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, at the age of 65.

Born in Dominion NS, she was the youngest child of the late William and Cassie (MacKay) Beaton. Following high school Joan graduated from the Glace Bay General Hospital in 1959. She remained dedicated to her profession untill she retired in 1999.

Joan is survived by three daughters, Margaret in Toronto,ON,  Raylene (Darryl) Gwynn in Fourchu CB, Estelle (Chris) Wolfe in Truro, NS. Four grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Marjorie MacLeod, Oshawa,ON and a brother, Fred Beaton, King City, ON

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, John Allen Gillis, five brothers, Nelson, David, Allister, William and Chalmers; three sisters Beatrice MacLeod, Vera Parkinson and Rachel Bruleigh.

Joan will be sadly missed by all family, friends and classmates.
