Where did you meet your spouse/partner?

Palisade, CO

What have you been doing since graduation?

I went to Brigham Young University and graduated in 1977. I taught band and choir at Roosevelt Jr. High School from 1977 to 1981. I became a gift sales rep for one year and then began teaching band and choir at Palisade High School. I got married in 1989 and had two children. My job has morphed into theatre and dance. At the present time I have been at PHS for 27 years. My husband is the general manager of the Fruita Coop (Coop Country), My son Andrew is a freshman at CSU and my daughter Kati is a junior at Grand Junction High School.

School Story:

One of my fondest memories is homecoming sophomore year. Our float was a giant demon with glowing red eyes and "72" in skoal cans on his chest. I even remember the theme: "the roaring demons swing the panthers" (we were playing the Rangely Panthers). There was a panther made out of a green bedspread. One of the reasons I remember this so well is because my dad volunteered our 1960 red cadillac convertible to pull the float. We had Steppenwolf on eight-track blaring from the car. Good times!

Do you still have family in Glenwood?

My family moved out to property between Silt and New Castle. My mother passed away in 2009. My dad is still at their home between Silt and New Castle. He also has a home in Anchor Point, Alaska. My brother Tom passed away in 2005 but his wife and son live up Divide Creek. My sister Kris lives in Riverton, Ut and my sister Marielle lives in Draper, UT.

If you no longer live in the Glenwood area, would you ever move back?

I love Glenwood Springs and enjoy visiting but I don't see myself moving back.

What did you always want to do?

I always wanted to teach Music. I also had a great desire to do architecture or design.

Did you accomplish what you wanted to do?

I did teach music for a long time. I discovered that I despise marching band. I love concert and jazz band. But through circumstance I found I love teaching theatre. Musicals are my favorite. I love building and dressing the sets. Costume design is also fun for me. I have been teaching beginning dance at the high school level. Its so weird because I don't really see myself as a dancer but I'm a big believer that if you have a passion for something you should enjoy doing it and get to do it. I also wanted to get married and have kids and I have done that.

What was or is the high point of your life?

The high points of my life are my marriage and the birth of my children.

Travel much? Where all have you traveled to?

California - many times, all over the western U.S., Florida - the obligatory trip to Disney World, Alaska - twice to visit my parents, Mexico - Honeymoon, and later a cruise with the kids.

What places do you still want to travel to?

I pretty much want to go anywhere. After my husband and I retire we want to go wherever the mood takes us.

Any vices?

Food.

What was your nickname in school?

Well, most of my nicknames seemed to be around my abilities to play the piano - Liberace? I don't recall. I've probably blocked it out.

Any nickname now?

Nope. However, if you talked to my students at the high school they probably have a few nicknames for me. Again, I'm blocking them out.

Favorite memory of GSHS?

I did this already but I do remember being in choir when they set off the nuclear explosion at Rulison.

Least favorite memory of GSHS?

Sitting in the auditorium having a moment of silence during the Vietnam War.

Biggest thing you would do differently if you were able to go back to your time at GSHS?

I would be more involved with everything. I felt like I was pretty timid.

Any gray hair yet?

I have a few gray hairs but I'm still pulling obvious ones out and I'm not afraid to color.
