I remember Sheila with her quiet demeanor and beautiful smile. My last time seeing her was this past May at our reunion. Sheila sat quietly at her table with her smile as I walked up. I asked Sheila was she having a good time, and Sheila looking a little exhausated and pale said, "Yes I am." I sat down. She, Gwen Pearsall, T. T. Grantham Raiford and I began to talk about old times and life in general. Once again, as I said that night, "Life is too short and we don't know what another day may bring." Sheila, go ahead and take your rest now, for pain and suffering shall be no more. Your friends and classmates will miss you!

Sheila you will be missed you have weathered the storm, it was evident that you were not feeling 100 % the last time I saw you yet you continued to smile and not complain, I pray that your strength and courage will manafest through the child that you had to leave behind as well as our classmates.
God please give the class of 1988 the strength to accept your will and watch between us and keep us covered in your blood, in Jesus's name AMEN

Sheila I will truly miss you. We were in 5th grade together at Eastern Wayne Elementary, 6th & 7th at Greenwood Jr. High and when mom moved to the city I thought I'd lost my friend, but not long afterwards she came to Goldboro High also. After graduation she and I both came to Raleigh for school, we lost touch and then reconnected when she worked for Telamon>>>we were surprised to know we worked within 5 miles of each other. Over the past few years we lost contact, but all I've ever known was a kind, gentle, quiet soul and good friend. You will forever live on in my heart.

I have a lot of memories with this young lady!! Shelia was more than a just friend to me in high school, she became my other sister. Sheila, my sister, Shenita (class of 86) and I would hang out together. We three got in trouble together. Sheila and I went to our senior prom together and we became part of each other's family. Even after I moved away, Sheila and my sister continued to grow as friends. They have been best friends for the past 24 years. Family is what we are! None of us will ever know the true struggle Sheila had with her illness, but I just hope Sheila knew she was never alone in her fight. You will truly be missed my sister-friend. As your sister, know that Shayne will know the goodness of you and I will try not to let any "dirty little secrets" slip out... (smile) Keep on smiling my sister.. God has you now!! You are not lost to us because you forever live on in our hearts.

When I got this news, I was taken aback. I did see Sheila at last Memorial Day, but did not get a chance to speak with her at length. Being selfish and wrapped in my own interest at the time, I failed to notice she was ill and just like that it is too late. WOW! We really do have to appreciate one another while we have the opportunity. Sheila and I had a good relationship in high school. I too will keep her family in my prayers. As for Sheila, you are soaring now my sister!
