Wow. I enrolled at the University of West Florida as an undecided major and lived and enjoyed Floribama, Alabama, Mississippi, and New Orleans between visits back to Goose Creek. I studied as a Communication Arts major, specializing in Film until switching my major to Information Technology Systems, specializing in Digital Media. I met and networked with various artists and musicians including Producer/Manager Keith Mitchell, Dance411 in Atlanta, and Wu-Tangs Gza. In 2003, as a junior at UWF, I was visiting Jacksonville, Florida where my mom and dad had relocated to after retiring, to witness an Attempted Murder. (crazy right? I know!). I ended up traveling back and forth way too often to provide depositions and to testify in the case that lasted over two years, and decided to move to the U.S.'s "largest city" in North Florida. Finding myself confused about my degree and where it had taken me, I enrolled in a Massage Therapy Program at Florida Community College at Jacksonville. I completed it, and passed my Board Exams that provided me with the title L.M.T., which I carry and practice today. During Massage Therapy school, I met Zachery who gave me my amazingly gorgeous son, Legend Zachariah Kai. He became my world, and I finally knew how it felt to truly be in love. I was practicing massage at a local health fair when a vendor handed me a flyer with an advertisement to become a substitute teacher. I decided that the hourly pay was substantial extra cash, and I thought that it would definately be fun, so, I trained and started my first day at a local Elementary school subbing for first grade. I'll never forget how nervous I was, walking into a new experience like that, but, I laugh now, because it was such an enlightening change in my life. I fell in love, immediately, and knew that this was exactly what I wanted to do, and it fullfilled all of my passions. I have always loved to learn. I was always competitive about my academics, sports, and future, and felt that teaching would perfectly combine the motivation that I have for success with my urge to help people. I've since taught the AVID program at Ed White High School (Westside Jax) and am currently teaching 8th grade U.S. History at Lakeside Junior High School. I have to remind myself about all of those motivating urges that brought me into this. LOL. I hope to recieve the grant that will bring my Non-Profit organization to life, and when it does, it will be big, so look out for 'Project Dream On' after the recession...(awkward silence)...or sooner ;)... Really, my son is what keeps me going. He's a gift, and I never expected that a child could be so amazing. I am hoping to move back to Charleston or Hawai'i at some point. There's just something that feels like home about the South, and I'm sure you can guess a few reasons why Hawai'i is a good pick. I hope all is well for everyone else in the past...TEN YEARS??????? Mandie's right...WE'RE GETTING OLD ;)
Hehehehe. There are so many...hmmmmm. Well, I thought GOOSE CREEK would be out in the sticks somewhere, since I had never heard of it, and I was coming from Hawai'i...but, after I got to know some people, Goose Creek high school didn't seem to be the GAP commercial that it initially appeared. I actually immediately ran into old friends, Lynze Norvell and Brian Jones, and they were friends from Georgia, so, that was pretty nostalgic...then, I remember Sarabeth and some other girls thinking that I didn't speak ENGLIGH because I was from Hawai'i.. HAHAHAHAHA.. They just smiled and waved like two feet away from me. WEIRDOs...then Mandie Driggers saved the day and actually sSPOKE to me...( before disowning me because I had a little too close of a relationship with a certain "no no" in the old Driggers book of "no no"s...Remember that Mandie?) lol...um stealing wristbands from drunk adults as they left LEVEL 2 so we could get in...and didn't we MARK "X"s on our hands with black permanent markers to get in at 16 also? WE WERE BAAAAAAAD Girls!!!! What else? Ironic run-ins at the CIRCLE K...long "road trips" down BUSHY PARK ROAD...MENRIV chillin...and that one guy that I met way back then...I forget his name???
