Alan J. Deraney, 55, Grand Forks, ND died Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at his home in Grand Forks. Alan James Deraney was born May 15, 1952 the son of James and Maurine (Myrom) Deraney in Grand Forks, ND. He was raised in Grand Forks and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1970. He attended North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture.

I will forever miss my best friend Alan. I had the joy of growing up with him and living across the street from Alan when our moms gave birth to us on the same day. When Alan passed away, he was a Fire Captain in the Grand Forks Fire Department and his crews always loved working with him. Thank you Alan for the joy you brought into my life....

Thanks for sharing, Pete, we all had "Good and Best" friends growing up, it seems hard to believe they could be gone.
I was looking for the listing for a good childhood friend, Jim Murphy who passed away in 2003, I guess his family moved to Colorado during his senior year and he did not graduate with us. I think of him often. It is our way of keeping their memory alive.
