Did anyone keep in touch with Vince Robinson after about 1989 or 1990? I have found a few leads, but before I spend a lot of time following up on them I was hoping somebody may have some info.

Hey Joe, what band did you wanna front back then?

05/14/08 11:10 PM #81

Michelle Kadlec (Pettigrew)

Well, with all this talk of 80's bands, I can't help but add some input. The other day I was talking with one of my hubby's employees (who is 24 years old) and he asked me what kind of music I liked. I told him that I was an 80's lady. He said, "Are you kidding, you need to get with the program"?! And I replied, "No, I think YOU need to get with the program! Tell me what kind of music they play at every hockey game, football game, etc. to get people pumped? It's all 80's music, because 80's music has heart"! And he said, "Yeah, I guess you can't argue with that logic"! Nope, you can't! LOL

Joe I had no idea you had that kinda range to replace Joe Perry, or Don Dokken! Maybe we should get a Karoke machine for the aps & taps night. What do you think...

Trish Kvasager (Belker)

Hey you wanna-be-rock-stars ~ I have a friend with a Karaoke business....he may be free that night?? Maybe if we all threw in a few bucks we could book him. Hell, I'd pay extra to hear Brad and Joe belt out a couple of tunes!

05/15/08 09:04 PM #84

Trish Kvasager (Belker)

Hey Joe! Sounds like it could be a good time. So, do you take requests? Perhaps some Broadway show tunes?? How about a duet with Brad?

05/16/08 10:04 AM #85

Dennis Cutshall (Breitwieser-Cutshall)

Just please please please don't have me sing, for the sake of the listeners! LOL I am an instrumentalist, But I will have a listen!

05/16/08 11:56 AM #86

Brad Pederson

I don't have much of a voice. I can do some tunes like born to be wild, or tunes from the Ramones, Sex Pistols, stuff like that. No duets! Accept with chicks that's it!

05/16/08 10:07 PM #87

Michelle Kadlec (Pettigrew)

Well, Joe, from what I can remember (even from our good old "West is the Best" days) you don't need much practice! I think that Trish and I could be up for Lita Ford's "Kiss Me Deadly"...don't you agree, Trish? LOL

05/16/08 10:24 PM #88

Trish Kvasager (Belker)

Ummm....No. I don't want to clear the room! You're on your own for this one, Michelle -- but I'll be there to buy you that first shot of liquid courage.

Michelle Kadlec (Pettigrew)

What happened to my brave woman? Don't tell me you've gotten shy in the last 20 years! LOL We'll both a few and you'll change your mind! :) Or Brad and I will talk you into it when we are out having a few!

05/17/08 09:30 AM #90

Brad Pederson

Hey girls, I'm thinkin this is all gonna be on "you tube" before we all wake up the next day! Let's keep that in mind...LOL

Hello all.

I just wanted to give everybody a summary of how certain decisions were made regarding the reunion. I know there are some who are or will be unhappy with such things as price and the decision to not be together with Red River on Saturday night. Hopefully everybody will understand that it's very difficult to make everybody happy when planning an event like this.

Back in November we had an informal brainstorming session at Whitey's. Roughly 10 people attended. The idea of having a joint reunion with RR at the Alerus Center was discussed, but ultimately the decision was, as I recall, unanimous to check into the possibility of Sanders.

For those who aren't all that familiar with Sanders, it's on the spendy side, but for a lot of people in the GF area, it's THE place to go for special occasions. I personally have only ever been there a couple of times, but IMO it's a pretty unique and cool experience.

Kim Holmes from Sanders was very receptive to the idea of hosting a reunion. He stated that no class had ever asked him to do so. The price he quoted was $60/person, which includes appetizers, salad, entree (buffet), dessert, discounted drinks and gratuity. Plus, we get the place all to ourselves. Yes, this is spendy compared to anyplace else in town, but I do think he's going to go the extra mile to make it a very enjoyable and memorable experience.

Back to the price--in addition to the $60, we need to be able to cover the costs of a dj, and the permit to have our family picnic at Lincoln Dr. Park, plus a few other misc. administrative expenses. So what we're looking at is about $65/person for the weekend (not including golf). At first (and maybe second and third) blush, that is pretty high. On the other hand, it was $50/person for our 10-year. IMO, that's actually not too steep of a jump considering 10 years is a pretty long time, and Sanders is considerably nicer than the Westward Ho was.

I just want people to know that we as a committee did not set out to see how much we could get away with charging. As mentioned above, it was a group decision of 10 or so people to go the Sanders route. Is it worth it? Some will say yes. Others no. Hopefully we'll see as many of you there as possible. I think it will be a very good weekend. Thanks for reading my rambling essay! Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Darin or other committee members,

Just wondering if you know what the entree or buffet will consist of, how this reunion website is supported, and how long will this site be available after the reunion?

I really think this website is an important piece of the reunion.

Stacie:

I don't think it's 100% set in stone with regard to the entree options, but I believe Kim mentioned at least one type of beef (probably steak), fish (possibly salmon) and likely some other meat and/or pasta options, as well as garlic mashed potatoes (which I've had there and they are amazing), vegetables and bread. I think it will be quite a spread.

I think Randy and/or Denise will be better able to answer any web site questions.

I don't think $65 - $70 bucks is out of line to cover everything. I know it will be more for others with travel and hotels, but considering it is our 20yr, it'll be worth it!

Thanks for the info, Darin.

Hi everyone!

Hey does anyone know what every happened to the video clips we took as seniors? Is there anyway to see them? I can't believe it's been 20 years already.

So how many of you have told your kids how lucky they have it that they can actually save their video games at every level? Remember the Atari days? I just laugh at my nephews when they complain because the music download is taking too long...I remeber listening to the radio all night to record one song. (And I usually missed the intro) :)

05/18/08 09:44 AM #97

Michelle Kadlec (Pettigrew)

Hey Kristi! I think that during some of the prior posts some have come to the realization that they believe that the video was lost in the flood. :(

Congratulations on beating your cancer and the best of luck to you on keeping it away for good!! :) I know first hand what a beast cancer can be. Take good care of yourself!

Kristi,
Darin mentioned one video of clips of grad and prom that he was going to see if it could be "cleaned" up and put on DVD, but the senior "what do you think you'll be doing in 20 years" video I believe was swept away in the flood.
Yes, I do tell my kids about how we couldn't save games, I too waited all day for a song or requested it hoping they'd play it and then miss the intro or get talking in it (and using cassette tapes, making "mix tapes", had phones not email or text to get a hold of friends, loading programs onto computer using cassette tapes (talk about waiting!), etc. They just say, "yeah, well that was 50 years ago" LOL!
I, too, cannot believe it has been 20 years!

Vic is very close to finalizing a registration form, which will be available shortly. More information should be posted on the main page soon.

Hello Everyone!

I have "totally" enjoyed reading the posts. Seeing pictures from the past make me laugh out loud. Seeing pictures of classmates now with their families is very heartwarming.

Thank you so much to Randy and Denise for all of the work on the websites. The sites are an enormous asset to us all. The energy surrounding the up-coming reunion is "awesome". I feel like the reunion has already started. "Rock on!"

I have to admit that I actually still use the words "totally", "awesome" and "Rock on!" in my vocabulary quite often.

On the business side of things: the menu I originally discussed with Kim at Sanders is as follows:

Appetizers to pass: mushroom cups, shrimp cups and smoked salmon roll-ups
Set salad: Greek
Buffet: Prime rib, cedar plank salmon, garlic mashed potatoes, fresh asparagus and possible a pasta tbd
Dessert: Fresh berry Tiramisu'

The registration form for the reunion is in its final stage and will be posted soon. If anyone has any special requests or ideas please e-mail me at kathykbarker@yahoo.com. I will be meeting with Kim Holms in early June to finalize some of the details.

Hello all!
First-congrats to Kristi for beating the breast cancer. I work near the general surgeons here in Eau Claire and there is a new diagnosis almost everyday!! Good for you!
Second-has anyone heard how Jen is doing following her open heart surgery? I've sent her an e-mail via this site, but no response. Hope is well with her!
Last-I don't think $65 is to much to ask for the entire weekend either. I've been to Sander's, only a couple of times and it is very tasty, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Although, I'm just excited for the entire weekend. Maybe we should hit the Pepper after Whitey's on Friday night too!?
Later~

There have been a lot of questions about the website, especially how long it will be running after the reunion.
When I started the website I paid a one year fee which was only $30 and that was to use the name www.gfcentral1988.com So, to answer the question, it all depends on the interest from all of you. If we want to keep in touch through this website after the reunion for 1, 2, 3 or 5 years it is just a yearly fee. Currently we are paid through January 2009. Please send / post your thoughts on the website and how long it should be available.
