After graduation I tried UND. I managed to make the Deans list. He wrote me a letter and told me that it would be best that I didn't return for the next semester. Apparently, UND wanted me to go to classes. I still have that first years transcripts and I am going to show my kids how not to go to college.
I worked at Sanders while I was going to school, I mean, attempted school. After I received the letter from the Dean I decided to move to Ankara, Turkey.
I lived in Turkey with my folks for a year and got bored with having a good time, so I found Scott Muldrow and we hung out for a summer in Nebraska. Scott had to get back to college, apparently he was an over achiever, so I decided that I would move to Washington D.C.
In D.C. I worked in an accounting firm. No I wasn't an accountant I was the office manager. I passed out mail, pens, and made copies of proposals. You could shave a gurrila and teach him this job. I wasn't haveing a lot of fun, so when I was on my lunch break I walked past a Marine recruiting station and I wondered if I could do that job. Seventeen years later, I am still seeing if I can do this job.
I work with Assault Amphibious Vehicles (AAV's) and I am now an instructor on a land mine clearing system that is outfitted onto the AAV.
I met my wife when I was 24 and we got married in 1996. The Marines have taken us to several places, well mostly me, but my wife had to deal with it all. I was a recruiter in Talladega, Al. and if ever I wright a book there is going to be at least two chapters dedicated to recruiting. I just don't know if it would be a comedy or a drama. Needless to say, I hated recruiting. Since I never got to see my wife, she was able to get her degree.
Since 2001 I have spent most of my time deployed, but in 2007 I finally landed this position and deploy to North Carolina 3 times a year and Twentynine Palms, Ca. 3 times a year. I will be up for retirement in 2011, but I am still trying to figure out if I can do this job.
I hate that I couldn't make it to the reunion I was in NC teaching a class. The 10 year reunion I was stuck in recruiting school trying to make their Deans list, but apparently they will pass anyone. I hope to make it to the next one and I hope everyone is doing great. I loved looking at the pictures.
