I met my first husband in 1974, moved to Boulder, CO in 1976 married in 1979, had two children, divorced in 1992. Seems like a past life to be recalling these details. My occupation during this time evolved from an Office Manager to Comptroller for various Construction companies. Along the way computers emerged onto the scene and I found I had quite an aptitude for understanding them. The first computer I experienced, with its industry specific software, had its own room! (early 80’s) The software had 10 huge books explaining its use. Without any experience whatsoever I sat down in front of the computer screen and within two weeks knew more about the workings of it than anyone in the company. Subsequently after a few years of practical use I went to work for the software company in their support department, installing the software/hardware, training and everything else. I traveled all over the country and was making $500 a day plus expenses for what I did. I met my current husband, James, in 1994. He is a Musician, Producer, with a Sales/Marketing background.

When we first met my only musical ability was to be able to put a CD into the stereo and I did that very well, mind you. I really did not want to get into his musical “space” … “teach me to play the piano, teach me to sing, teach me this and that” … no, I just enjoyed his talents. He had already produced one tape (yes, tape) and kept talking about this marketing concept with music. This evolved into our company Music For Candles. James and I are very Spiritual and we play “New Age” music. We call it Original ~ Gentle ~ Instrumental music. As the story goes in 1996 we decided to produce another audio product with the new name. James started out as a drummer, moved onto Piano/synthesizers and plays Native American Flute. We had gotten my son a Native American Flute for his birthday in May, 1996 and sometime in June or July I asked him if he was playing it. He was living with his Dad at the time and told me no, that his Dad made fun of him so I asked him if I could borrow it. James was in the middle of recording the new CD and was in the studio three days a week. While he was gone I started messing around with the flute but I put it away before he could hear me or even knew what I had it. Three days after I started I decided to keep playing when he came home. I was out on the deck in our back yard and he came out asking who was playing that beautiful music. I told him it was me and he just said “wow!” then he got all excited told me to come with him to the piano and said “see what you can play with this”. Six months later we did our first live concert! I learned that if you get out of the way of yourself some pretty cool things can happen. I never learned to read music and play exclusively from my heart. Two years later we produced the first CD that I was on called Starry Night and our band included a guitarist and cellist along with Piano and Native American Flute! We now we have six CD’s of our music along with being on several other’s as guest musicians.

We actually toured all over the country for several years doing shows every weekend. It did take a toll on us and two years ago we decided to take our lives into a different direction. I actually started doing our CD covers after 1996 and thus the Graphic Artist in me was born. With my aptitude for computers I am able to learn software at an accelerated rate. I guess you could say we are a record label now as we produce audio/video products for other people in our home studio. We take an idea from its conception to the final product.

James and I were married on the ninth Anniversary of the day we met almost at the exact hour. It was a quiet ceremony down by the creek in Golden, CO which was a few blocks from our house at the time. Simply beautiful! We moved to Florida in January, 2005. I remember shortly after high school getting a book by Dr. Wayne Dyer called Erroneous Zones … it helped me at the level I was at to go further in my studies. Now I was never into religion (which I thought was God) basically didn’t need someone else telling me how I should act and behave and make me feel anything other than joy and bliss. This is where I mistakenly bought into thinking that God and religion were the same. I know better now. This is what I have since figured out … Religion is having someone else’s experience of God, Spirituality is having my own experience with God. It makes sense to me now and having teachers in my life like Dr. Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle and Joel Goldsmith.

My children still live in Colorado, My Son, Jeff is a Graphic Artist, Web Designer and DJ. My daughter, Tracy, is a Massage Therapist, married and blessed us with our first Grandchild ~ Cyrus, who was born December, 2004. I live a very blissful life! Oh, BTW I know most of you knew me by Kimi when I was in high school, I now go by Kimmara. My name evolved along with me, it is actually my first and middle name smooshed together! So there you have it, I’d love to hear from you! Namaste’ ~ Kimmara (if you want you can still use “Kimi” but not “Kim” please, I still have a hang up about that one)
