Joanne attended CalvinCollege/Blodgett Nursing and received her diploma in registered nursing on Sept. 2, 1965. She married Sid Jansma, Jr. on Sept. 3, 1965 after dating him for over 4 years. Jo and Sid had 4 children in the first 5 years of their marriage. Joanne worked in pediatric nursing until 2005. She took a break in the 70's and 80's to raise her children and was a devoted mother and then grandmother of 12 grandchildren.
Joanne lived a life that demonstrated her faith by her actions. She loved Jesus and attended many events that strengthened her faith such as Bible Study Fellowship, Plymouth Heights Christian Reformed Church etc. Joanne loved to sew, read, walk, travel, visit, and talk. She was a good friend and a dearly loved wife. On May 17, 2007 Joanne passed on to heaven and did so with grace. She also did it with confidence that her life carried on into eternity with her Jesus and loved ones. Joanne hung on to Proverbs 3: 5-6 and in fact required that her future husband memorize it before their wedding (and I did!). I thank God for Joanne. Sid Jansma, Jr.
I am so sorry Joanne is gone ... a fellow RN and classmate who was very kind and sweet. I remember our walks and talking and laughing about our teenaged lives. I'm glad to have known her. I'm sorry for your loss.
Joanne and Sid were my next door neighbors on Edward St. and their kids and ours played together in the early years of our marriages. We have many fond memories of those days back in the '60s. Trudy (Bruinwood) Oele.
