Pat Hutt Burgess

After high school I worked in the office of Muir Drug Co. If you remember they were a chain drug store in Michigan and a few other states. I worked there for 8 years until I had my first child.
I married John Burgess (SCHS 1970 graduate) in June 1978. In March 1984 we started Burgess Concrete Construction.
We are now semi-retired and enjoying a little more laid back lifestyle! We've done some traveling over the years, but our favorite place to go is to our cottage up North.
We have 4 married children and 16 grandchildren from ages 2 to 17, and they all live within 8 miles of us. Four of our granddaughters are students at South Christian. They all keep us very busy but there is nothing we enjoy more than spending time with them. They are the joy of our lives!
Recently I joined the Metropolitan Choir of Praise and I am really enjoying being involved in it.
I give glory to God for all He has done for me and blessed me with over the years!

When I started at South I had just moved to Michigan from NY a month before school started. I was so happy to be able to go to a Christian high school and make new friends. Funny coincidence, I only knew 2 people in our class when school started who I happened to go to school with in NY from 1st grade through 8th grade, Clare Bush and Yvonne Jansingh.
I was put in Geometry class but I could not follow it at all. Came to realize you all had Algebra in 9th grade but I was suppose to have it in 10th. So I had to go across the street to Cutlerville Christian to take it. I hated doing that! Suffice it to say, I skipped that class a lot!
