In 1966 when my family moved to Great Bend Judy was the only person my age in our tiny church. We became close friends, attending youth camps and church reunions together. Where I was shy she was outgoing, and having her as a friend was a godsend as I struggled to make new friends at GBHS.

I remember countless nights driving up and down the drag in her little sports car, stopping too often to add water to her radiator, talking, singing, gossiping, and simply experiencing the joys and angst of being a teenager.

She was fearless, loving, and very intelligent. I’m not surprised that she chose the life of service that she did, administering to the needs of her patients as a nurse in various hospitals in the Kansas City area, working to provide much needed health care in rural mountains of Honduras. She was an amazing woman and will be missed.

Judy lost her battle with Multiple Myeloma on June 7th 2016, surrounded by loved ones.

I loved Judy's smile.  So warmhearted and gentle.  Wonderful to be with.
