Frank Joseph Wapelhorst, 62, passed away March 24, 2024, at the University Of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus, Great Bend, Kan. He was born Feb. 15, 1962, in Great Bend, to Daniel and Joyce (Sell Jensen) Wapelhorst.

Frank had previously been married to Jayne Kay Keffer from 1985 to 2000.

Frank, a longtime employee of Superior Essex, was a current resident of Great Bend previously living in Brownwood, Texas. He was a member of the Roman Catholic faith, numerous archery clubs, and was passionate about hunting and fishing. He was a talented athlete, playing softball, golf and basketball, even after being confined to a wheelchair. 

Surviving are his parents, Dan and Joyce Wapelhorst of Great Bend; three sisters, Kathy Wapelhorst (Doug Clark), Paula Stocker (James Love), and Nancy Sawyer all of Great Bend; adopted son JR Griffith (Emily) of Johnson City, Texas; two adopted grandchildren, Adam and Ann Griffith; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and feline companion, Cleo.

Memorial funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Father Terrance Klein presiding. A Rosary will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Frank Wapelhorst Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS  67530. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.

Huntin', fishin', playing golf, cruisin' around in our old hotrods, just  the best buddy a guy could ask for. Frank.. You are truly going to be missed.  Love ya Brother
