Mr. Parker was a wonderful, gentle teacher with a sharp but wry sense of humor and a real concern for all of us. He was a sincere advocate but cared more about making us think than what it was we were thinking--a rare quality in someone as dedicated as he was to his progressive point of view. I have thought of him many times over the years and gratefully acknowledge the influence he has had on me.
