After high school, I attended the University of Kansas and received a degree in human biology. After short stints in Texas and Colorado, I made it back to the Cowboy State and began work with the Wyoming State Crime Lab in Cheyenne as a forensic scientist in the Biology/DNA section. There I met my husband, Jeff. After 9/11, he was activated with the military and we began an adventure all over the country (DC, Alabama, and back to DC). I worked with a private lab outside DC, where our son, Kaden, was born in 2003. A couple of years later our daughter, Kennedy, was born in Alabama. We enjoyed our time back in DC, but we were ready to grow roots and made the change to Texas.
I currently work for the state crime lab here in Austin. Kaden began Kindergarten this year and Kennedy is in a Montessori. We absolutely love Austin – lots of family festivals, great live music, fun outdoor activities, and temperate weather. My sister and her family, as well as my parents live close.
Other than chasing the kids around, we keep busy traveling, enjoying the outdoors, taking in the live music scene, and following our favorite sporting events (especially the Kansas Jayhawks!)
I’m really looking forward to catching up with everyone this summer! And please come visit if you’re ever in the Lone Star State.
