Have you set a date for the reunion?

12/04/08 05:05 PM #15

Aleigha Smith (Marveggio )

When my dad had his they did a lunch thing, maybe at the school type deal, with kids, food, slideshow and what not. Then those who wanted all went out together that night. Maybe to the supper club or Heathers bar. I don't know if anyone wants to devote that much time to this, but of would be fun for everyone.

I like the lunch idea of Aleigha's at the school, or some other children-friendly place. Our kids are a part of us and what we've been through in the past ten years and would be cool to meet everyones kids too. I like the Event Center idea, I can talk to the manager and see if he'll give us a good deal or the Old Gin isn't a bad idea either. Lord knows we used it plenty of times in high school. I really don't think a bar has the right "atmosphere" for a class reunion. But it is a good idea for people that want to continue remeniscing after the reunion.

I agree with aleigha and diane. That sounds like a great idea!

Hey Guys It all sounds great..Exactly how mny events are we having? The club thing sounds cool..and the shcool thing sounds cool, and i like the supper club, and the country club idea..it would be nice...Its just a good thing that were having a reunion, AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLANNED WAYYYYY BEFORE NOW...BUT Its cool, after all we are the last class of the century..lets just have a good time..and lets enjoy the fact that we are gonna see each other once again...

Definitely, Kerri. Matt and I don't have any children, but we know how important they are and all the bragging rights that they bring so I definitely think that at some point the kids should be included....like a lunch or whatever and then some classy adult time somewhere nice, on some neutral ground and for those of you who want to contine, move it to a bar later that night.

Now we've all been discussing the same ideas over and over so let's ask for some feedback from the actual planners. It's all you Lauren...what's your opinion? :)

Just now getting caught up on all the posts. I know that for me, a bar or club wouldn't be something I'd really be up for. Nor would my husband. And if we factor in children, then that would definitely nix that as well.

I'm up for something affordable - especially since a good portion of us will be bringing spouses/significant others.

I'm sorry guys, I have been crazy busy with work and just now got a chance to read these. I'd like to get some prices. I think that is going to dictate a lot. I say we have a picnic on a Saturday (outdoors maybe?) and that evening we do something at the Old Gin or some place that's affordable, if everyone is interested. I agree with what Wendi said about Agora; way too expensive and not flexible at all. At the Old Gin that evening we could have music and dancing for those that wanted to take part and maybe a slideshow. I would say that part is for adults only. It wouldn't be so much like a bar atmosphere and there is room where people could visit. I think it would be neutral enough that everyone should enjoy! I definitely want to get opinions on this but if everyone is flexible I don't mind to call around and then present options back to you all.

Hey Lauren, that sounds like a great idea! If you need help with anything let me know and I would be happy to do it.

Hey Guys.....
One question..are we gonn amake this a one day event..or a weekend thing?

12/10/08 09:51 AM #24

Diane Quick (White)

Lauren that sounds great. I'll talk to my friend and see how much it would cost for the Event Center, but i'm sure the old gin will still be cheaper even if he gives us a deal. I wish more people would join this site, has everyone told all their friends about it? Let's get this going, put the link up on your myspace pages and facebooks or whatever other social networking sites you use and lets get our class back together!

12/10/08 10:14 AM #25

Brandi Burnette (Reynolds)

Lauren, I think your right on target with a picnic and the Old Gin. If Diane can get that event center cheaper than that's great too. If you need any help calling for prices or anything else, just hollar.

And I'm trying to notify who I can and tell them about the website. I know a lot of people don't have myspace to catch the word, so everyone....

If you know someone who isn't on here and you know how to get a hold of them....SPREAD THE WORD!

While Matt's reunion was fun, it was a very small turn out. I'd love to see a huge turn out for ours!

12/11/08 11:14 PM #26

Lauren Loftin (Curry)

I'm with you Brandi, I really hope we can have a big turnout! I think it will be fun to see each other again! I hope that since we have this out here so early, maybe by Fall we can contact a lot of people.

I GUESS THIS IS TO YOU LAUREN...IS THIS GONNA B BE 1 DAY EVENT OR A WEEKEND..SOME OF US DO NEED TO PUT IN FOR THE OFF TIME IN JANUARY...

Diane Quick (White)

Well, i checked with the manager of Centennial Country Club to see about the cost of the Event Center, and he told me that there is a $500 reserve deposit and then it's $3.50 per person, with just the 44 people that are on here now, that comes out to $15.70 each, not including spouses or anything else.

So has there been a day set yet or is that still up in the air?

I think a family picnic is a great idea. Maybe doing this on a friday afternoon, then if the date for reunion, an appearance by the class at the homecoming game with family would be nice. I think saturday could be a good night for a formal dinner for the class, follow by a trip to a bar or other place that is later decided by the class. Since its may, I'd like to suggest we might put together a panel of classmates, preferably local to meet and address these suggestions by classmates. I think it would also be a good idea to get together and try to gather email address or make phone calls so we might find other classmates unaware of the reunion. I know I have personally mentioned the reunion to those that are not on this website yet to take a look and decide if he or she is coming. I would for one be willing to meeting on a panel to more effectively plan a reunion that could have a decent turnout. I believe the key to a bigger reunion than the previous class is organization and planning. Im not here to knock on Lauren or anyone else who has already been active in planning this event, these are just mere suggestions to help make it a great first reunion for the class.Just my two cents and suggestions for the reunion.

i think charlie is right. it would be nice to get this set as quickly as possible. i know several people who have to give a month notice for taking off.

Hello All! Haven't been on here in quite sometime. Thought I'd check it out and see how things were going. But I don't see any news! Anyone know what's going on with our reunion.

Heather Hoover (Wright)

Has there been any progress made on where we are going to have it, or anything like that.

07/07/09 05:33 PM #35

Brandi Burnette (Reynolds)

Heather, that's my question too. Time is closing in on us. I sent Lauren a message on Facebook today. I'll let you know if I hear from her before something gets posted on here.

the one day thing is ok..but maybe we could do the one day thing..and then on that sunday do the picnic thing?

07/09/09 09:14 PM #37

Heather Hoover (Wright)

what does everyone think about the dance ranch?

07/10/09 09:47 AM #38

Laura Yandell (Hampton)

I think it's a good idea. If the reunion is supposed to be Sept 12, there's not a lot of time to plan a huge event. Plus, the bigger we try and make it, the more it costs. I know that with the economy being the way it is, some people probably won't be able to afford much more than $25/person, myself included.
