C.W. (Bill) "Butch" McPherson

I graduated from UNCG in 1975 and earned my professional degree in 1976 in Behavioral Technology (BSBT) after my BA degree in Psychology. After serving special populations with autistic, developmentally challenged and learning disabled children at the Henry Wiseman Kendall Center, at-risk adolescents with Volunteers To The Court and working as a parent educator serving pre-school children with High Point Kindergarten for the Handicapped, I decided to continue serving special populations and accepted my first full-time employment with the State of NC at Broughton State Mental Hospital in Morganton, NC. I still have a picture in my collection in which the casual observer would not distinguish between myself and other male patients on the Unit R ward for the mentally retarded. I accepted a position in Sales when I returned to Greensboro after leaving Morganton and accepted a sales job in Greensboro but transferred to Atlanta, Ga at the home office of United Labs of America. I accepted a part-time job at Pogo's of Atlanta, a disco/nightclub (Remember John Travolta and the late Donna Summers). Actually it was a lot of fun as I was promoted to a full-time manager and managed the largest disco in North Atlanta located on Buford Hwy. I am now working full-time at Green Ford as a Sales Consultant. I have a daughter who graduated from UNCG majoring in Music. My daughter-Morgan McPherson must have received her music and intelligence from her mother's gene pool even though I still have a Trumpet and French Horn with which I'm known on the block to awaken the neighbors occasionally. I enjoy contacting old friends and making new friends while enjoying family and loved ones. Selling vehicles don't give me much time to socialize so stop by and say Hello if you're in the area.

Let's keep on flying higher than the Eagles and, with God's help, we all may still be able to move mountains in our good ole days! God Bless and Keep the Faith.

Played keyboard in Chuck Martin's "The Mustangs" (later Brass-Tacks) with Chuck (Guitar/Singer/Artist), Danny Strickland (Drummer) and Kenneth Chambers (Base Guitar). We backed up The Temptations for our Junior-Senior Prom in the 1969. I also played french horn in Concert Band & Orchestra as well as played Horn & Drums/Percussion in the Marching Band (remember Ike Ogelsby & Michael Porter-football & Robert McAdoo-basketball ?). Hey, Ronnie Coleman, remember the Azalea Festival in Wilmington? All jokes aside, I have enjoyed keeping up with a few of you "Golden Eagles" over the decades but not as many as I think about often in my prayers.
