Nita Pierman Grubbs

After attending High Point Nursing School for a semester, then moving to GTI, I became an RN and worked for 32 years for Wesley Long Hospital. Retired from Wesley Long and then worked 4.5 years for a Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon, learning new things and that we are limited only by how hard we are willing to work for what we want to learn and do.

I currently work 3 days a week as a volunteer at the Old North State Council, our local Boy Scout Council. I manage their health lodges (including policy making); manage a team of 30 first aid/CPR/AED, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and wilderness first aid instructors; and, am a member of the Council Executive Board. I was our council risk management chair for 14 years and have been on a 3.5 year break from that before just recently taking up the reins again with 3 new sub committees to manage: camps health & safety, disAbility Awareness, and Youth Protection. About 2015 I joined the Boy Scouts of America National Medical Support Committee and was, for a time, involved nationally with Youth Protection (child abuse prevention) training and policy making.

Have spoken nationally on child abuse (American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses Annual Meeting) and various health and safety topics at Philmont Scout Ranch (Boy Scouts of America High Adventure Camp in New Mexico).

LIFE IS GOOD!!!!! I work with some great people.

David and I will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary on November 2, 2024.
