ROANOKE, VA — Jane Tanger Black, 61, of Roanoke, formerly of Greensboro, N.C., passed away August 11, 2012. She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Tanger. She loved dancing and was an avid ballroom dancer. She is survived by her mother, Doris S. Tanger; son, Jason Black and wife, Amy; daughter, Stacy Becher and husband, Craig; brother, Steven Tanger; sister, Susan Nehmen and husband, Joe. Jane was committed to the Jewish community of Roanoke and devoted many years of service to the Jewish Community Preschool and both Congregations of Beth Israel and Temple Emanuel in Roanoke. Jane was involved in early childhood education and development for most of her adult life. She was also a dedicated volunteer at the Carilion Health System, Community Hospital and Center for Women's Health.

Memorials may be made to the Jane Tanger Black Fund for Young Onset Dementias at Johns Hopkins University Hospital.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2012 at Temple Emanuel, Persinger Road, Roanoke. Interment will follow at Hebrew Cemetery, High Point Rd., Greensboro, N.C.
