I knew Curtis from 7th-12th grade. He was funny & crazy! He was a trailblazer in being openly Gay. WAY... before the world understood that people are born gay not made. Curits you were a brave soul & I know a kind person. May you rest in peace.

The bravest guy in our class, along with Marty Brim. I wish I could have been so brave. I remember running into them in a bathroom in lower AC or whatever and I remember Curtis looking at me and telling me "We know all about you." I wish to god I had not been so scared. Curtis was a great man...way ahead of his time.

Curtis you were such a good friend to me.  You held my hand and talked to me when others turned away when I was outcast in Jr High at Aycock. Or rather, I THOUGHT I was an outcast while others probably didn't even notice if I was there or not...mostly not...

When I was in homeroom you made sure to make sure I wasn't alone in my world...you knocked down the door and suggested I enjoy your company which I did immensely as you were a true friend. I could talk to about anything even in all my confusion and loss of innocence as it was being lost.

After school when we ran into each other out and about in the 'boro in 78-79 you and I had so much fun connecting again outside the walls Aycock and Page... we KNEW it was true friendship as we had so much fun... I miss you and wish we'd stayed in touch after we reconnected but you will always be a gift to me.

Will never forget dancin the last dance you on our graduation night at Davies!

Love you Curtis!! Always!
