worked for Du Pont dynamite manufacturer in W. V. as machine operator .. they made not only dynamite but also C4 for military was a part of that process in manufacturing of it . 15 years and laid off . Went to work Walmart and was maintenance crew leader and had been asked to go to other stores by request traveled to other stores as instructor. Worked with Toys for Tots in WV where I live . Have numerous cross stitch pieces for veterans hanging in places . Also do ones for individual veterans . There is one that is at the Museum in Greensboro that has the guys that died in Vietnam on it like the Wall in DC all those from Guildford County are on it . I know it needs a home where those in the city can come see it that can't get to DC and the Wall . It was done for that reason for those who had family that lived in Greensboro and the County. Needs a home were it can be seen not packed away as they have it but that's just my opinion . At least it is there being kept out of private hands . Tend to get vocal when it comes to veterans and how they are treated.like to travel and am planning to go to Rose Parade this January have the arrangements already made to go . Greatest thing ever got to do many would say no way they would but what would you do for a friend you cared for. so my best friend , well she spent her last 8 years with me and died of cancer and had she been still living we both would be at the reunion . She was in class of 67 .. She passed as we both wanted in my home and not hospital or nursing home and I don't regret those 8 years as had I not done them I'd have missed some very special times. Something we all should think about with those we love . If able keep them at home you will miss a lot sending them away .

School Story

one thing I remember most is art class and Mrs Scarborrugh . I think that it gave me the ability or a way to use color schemes with the type Cross stitch I do . Some of the designs are military style for veterans using there name , rank branch and where served along with ribbons in needlework . When I worked in school store and met Patricia Graham through her getting a locker by chance that ended up in a 50 year friendship that she was able to spend the last 8 years of her life at my home with her cancer .. We only discovered how far back when we were looking at her yearbook and mine . Were were two years apart as far as classes went .. One thing I know is that people change when they get older as do attitudes about classmates , Had some great teachers and you know the funniest thing I recall was how everyone thought Mrs Smith , "bull" I think was the word she was given. All thought she could not see good or hear well and she went down the row next to the wall and got a few fudging on tests that day and gave them the proper grade . Last time books were on floor for her tests she had better eyesight then anyone ever thought she had .. I lost touch with everyone when I moved to W V but who could turn down a job at Du Pont , who cares if it was a dynamite manufacturer . I think playing sports gave me that don't give up attitude when things get tough like in life more about persevere don't quit and friend mean a lot that is why I refused to let how I was physically make me put Patricia into a nursing home . running up and down that hill on football field with don't give in don't quit in my head stayed with me .One thing for sure I was who I was and still am I have not changed that way I think like back then people are not all bad and I don't tell what isn't so and don't listen to gossip . Remember who I nominated for homecoming court . Didn't care what people thought then as she was still a person that had feelings so I asked her for that reason. I knew she'd not get that many votes but it did not matter to me and I am that way even now with some people .4 years in school store and cutting out the blue horse from the front.. Got so good at that I can take just the layer off anything cardboard and leave box intact . well I still get Mallow Cups and am planning to send them a retro card complete from the early 60,s. Recall that I was able to ride school bus home early because of the surgery went with the grade school kids thanks to bus garage allowing me to not have to walk like I did since the docs asked if it could be done .
