Graveside services for Benita Wood Hathcock, 61, were held Saturday at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Inverness. She died Jan. 15, 2009, surrounded by family and friends, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville, had charge of arrangements. She was born on June 20, 1947 in Indianola. Benita graduated from Greenville High School in 1965 and went on to earn her bachelors degree in statistics and data processing at Mississippi State University. She later pursued her Master's degree at Delta State University. She had been a longtime resident of Greenville, where she worked at Rosella's Furniture, Washington County Welfare Department, and Jimmy Hathcock's T.V. & Appliance. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Thelma Wood, and a sister, Billie Joyce Schneider. She is survived by her loving children, her son, Donald F. Steen Jr. of East Burke, Vt.; two daughters, Cristen Carr of Orlando, Fla. and Catherine Wood Hubbard of Asheville, N.C.; and a granddaughter, Emma Hubbard.
