I was shocked when I read an email from Wade Wineman regarding William's death. I was also shocked when I found out that William was having a Catholic funeral. My wife and I went, as did a dozen or so of William's Delta friends. I remember William saying one time many years ago that when he died, he wanted to be buried with a carton of cigarettes, a fifth of Maker's Mark whiskey, and a telephone with him in the casket. When I asked him what the telephone was for, he jokingly said that when he finished the booze and the cigarettes, he was going to call his good friends to come and get him. As it turned out, his body was cremated and his ashes were spread up and down highway 61 between Cleveland and Leland. He absolutely loved Greenville and the Delta. He was a unique character. R.I.P. William
