Johnny was one of the more memorable people for me at GHS. We did some crazy things together.

I'll never forget the night Johnny was trying to sneak into home through his bedroom window.

I forget who else was in the car....possibly Chick.. but he had forgotten his bid to one of the winter dances and we had to go his house to get it. There had been some quality time spent earlier at Strazi's so he didn't want to see his parents.

When Johnny was about half way through the window, the light comes on and it was his father, wondering just what the hell was going on. We could see it all from the car but couldn't hear the conversation. It didn't look good for Johnny though, beer on his breath and caught sneaking through the bedroom window when he could have walked through the front door.

When Johnny got back to the car he said his father opened the door and inquired "what the hell!" Johnny said he told him that since the volkswagon was gone, he didn't think they (his parents) were home and he had forgotten his key.

To which his father replied...."Johnny, YOU have the volkswagon." Classic Pritchett....

Then there was the time we spent the night in the Cleveland jail together......

Yea, I miss Johnny....we had some unique and wonderful times together in the life experience known as "high school"

I'm sorry he's gone.

I will always miss Johnny. He was such a great guy. I can still see him fixing his hair, packing his Camel non filters on his watch and always smiling. He never met a stranger. Except the two guys we got into a fight one night in Strazis bathroom. The place wasnt big enough to change your mind in and there was Johnny and I fighting it out with two out of towners. Dont even remember what the fight was about but I am sure it had something to do with the "Quality Time" we had spent at Strazis that afternoon. Johnny was one of a kind.A lot of great memories

As you all know Johnny payed the drums in the school band. I first met him at E. E. Bass when Mr. Patterson was the band director. Mr. Patterson left and John Anthony became our band director (Mary Pryor's older brother.) With Johnny, Dickie Watson, Jimmy Walcott, and others in the same room-you can imagine what played out. We were to go to State Contest when all of the above did something that irritated Mr. Anthony. He told them that if they didn't want to follow the rules, they could all just leave....and they did. The rest of the band members were devastated, because we knew we could not preform at contest without them. I don't remeber what transpired next, but they all came back and we made all superiors at contest that year. Johnny was one of a kind and I really miss him, too.

Johnny lived just around the circle from me (McCorkle Circle) and we would always play football in the two adjoining yards, and yes the sidewalks did take a lot of our elbow and knee skin but it was fun! With Bill Beckman, Stan Humphreys, Bill Pollard, Johnny Vest, Kenny Garvin and Don Janous we had a blast. I know I am leaving somebody out...oh Dicky Watson and the Barinis brothers

Johnny and I went to church together and one can only imagine what we were like sitting on the next to the last row at Emmanuel Baptist Church! Johnny got me into more trouble making "sounds" on the pew and then looking and pointing at me like I had done it! His mother would get us both anlong with several other mother's and one old deacon.

I love to watch him play drums! I think he was in Johnny Avents band for a short while...one of the best!
