Bill is another one of our classmates that left us much to early. Bill died of a heart attack in his mid 30's. Great guy, great friend and a very good athelet. Played basketball and baseball for the Hornets. Good student. He was a very talented singer, song writer and guitar player. Most people in our class will not even remember him. Not that he would mine, he kinda liked it that way. Bill did more with less than anybody I know. Had a tough upbringing. Gave of himself as a fireman for the City of Greenville for many years. I miss you my friend.

'Wild Bill' Lester, I can see him grinning as I type this short note about a fine person. I can also see him standing on First Base at GHS Baseball Games. Raw bone, Good Athlete and a Fine Fellow - Quiet, as Dennis has mentioned and a good friend. I can see that hair and his head cocked to one side with a pencil tapping on his cheek in class. Yep, he left us too soon - he would come by the Pepsi plant while working as a fireman and visit every now and then. We all miss folks like 'Wild Bill'...

Bill Lester had the longest stride I have ever seen! Coach Dempsey would start us out on the track and put Dennis and Bill up front...they would set the pace so fast! All of us fat boys...oh yeaah that was me...had a hard time catching that group! It was an all out sprint for 1/4 mile...I just about died, an Bill and Dennis would be laughing so hard.
What a guy! Missing ole Wild Bill!
