I have many wonderful memories of Kenneth. We grew up together in church and school. Many of my memories are of his sense of humor. My last memory of Kenneth was 1992. My sisters, Perky (our 3rd sister) and I went to Greenville for my mother's birthday. Perk took me to the airport in Memphis to fly home. We called Kenneth ahead of time and he and brother Chris met us at the airport (Those were the days when anyone could go to the gate.) Kenneth kept us in stitches the entire time - what great medicine laughter is. When I got on the plane my ribs were sore from so much laughter. I will certainly miss not having a repeat performance from Kenneth at the reunion. He left us far too early.

KENNETH WAS MY FIRST COUSIN. HIS MOTHER WAS MY MOTHERS MATRON OF HONOR AT HER WEDDING. KENNETH TOOK ME TO THE DANCE AT THE HUT ACROSS FROM THE SCHOOL , CANNOT REMEMBER THE FULL NAME. WE ALL STOOD ACROSS THE ROOM FROM EACH OTHER WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO ASK US TO DANCE. THE LAST I HEARD , HIS BROTHER AND HIS YOUNG DAUGHTER HAD MOVED IN WITH HIM. THINK THEY WERE IN GEORGIA, NOT SURE. KENNETH WAS A WONDERFUL ARTIST BUT I NEVER SAW ANY OF HIS WORK. WE LOST TOUCH AFTER OUR HIGH SCHOOL 10TH REUNION. I WAS SHOCKED TO HEAR OF HIS DEATH. BARBARA M. WALLACE.

My favorite memory of Kenneth was his senior party that his grandmother, Mrs. Fuller, had at her house, which was down behind First Baptist Church, as I recall.  Back in those days, our mamas told us never to use the bathroom in someone else's house.  Mrs. Fuller had a magnolia floating in her toilet.  We carefully set it in the tub, then set it back in the toilet.  Last week, we were at Clinton Bagley's house in Jackson, and I asked if I could use his bathroom before we left.  His response?  "Of course, you can.  I don't float magnolias in my toilet!"  My mother and I had just been talking about that the day before.  I couldn't believe that he, too, remembered.

So many happy memories of Kenny.    I put fresh flowers on his grave a few weeks ago....we were the "wittiest of "63" together.   As I remember it, we were nominated every year and lost until we were Seniors.   We always celebrated the losses and had "least wittiest" parties.    The year we won, Kenny ran down from the audience and jumped in my arms and I carried him off the stage.    I remember him calling me at the W during my Freshman year; he said what do you weigh Perk, and I said about 132, why? and he said, " Thank God, I finally weigh more than you!"   We stayed in touch all through the years, went on a cruise with a group of crazy people about 15 years ago.    I spent a lot of time with Tweetly, his mom, when she was in the nursing home, and sent her a rose the day before she went to heaven.

Kenny's little brother, Chris, has always been my little brother too.   We used to drive around town in my 1949 Plymouth, the world famous "fender bender" with Chris in the back window ledge.   So much for seat belts and safety.   Chris is currently in the hospital, hopefully, recovering from some heart related issues.   I talked to him two days ago, and recently helped him move into a condo with his brother-in-law.   Chris's wife, Sue, passed away not long after Kenny died.  Chris has a daughter who lives in Nashville, and she has one 8 year old son......named Kenny.

Kenny and I spent hours and hours laughing together; he was so extraordinarily bright and a most gifted artist.

One of the funniest, sweetest guys I have ever known. Gave me my nickname of "jinx" because of several minor bad luck issues over the high school years. He was my date for several high school dances and I could not have asked for a better one!!  He and Jimmy Pugh called me a couple of times long after graduation but I did not get to talk to him. Great friend!!
