GREENVILLE, MS- Funeral services for Donald Ramsey Russell, 62 years old of Greenville, will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Smith Funeral Home in Greenville. He passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery.
Mr. Russell was born on June 4, 1945 in Greenville, where he grew up and attended school. After graduating from Greenville High School, he went on to attend Ms. Delta Jr. College, Delta State University and Mississippi State University, where he was on the football team. He was a retired salesman and a long-time employee of Greenville Brick & Block and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Ramsey Russell and Louise Lake Russell. In 1965 he married Sallie Draughon and they had two sons together.
He is survived by his wife, Sherrie Russell of Greenville, MS; his two sons, Donald Ramsey Russell, Jr. (Anita Lynn) of Brandon, MS and Thomas Simmons Russell (LaVonne) of Bryam, MS; step-daughter, Stephanie Richter (Stefan) of Knoxville, TN; one brother, James Russell (Sybil) of Haughton, La; his former wife, Sallie Daughon of Raymond, MS; 11 grandchildren and one niece.
