I had a big time crush on Robert Sommer in High School!!  I used to flirt with him or try to flirt with him in Biology class (Mr. Clarks Class) without getting into trouble.

Robert's Mother came into Mrs. Spurlock's class Home Ec. and made us Icelandic crepes.  Yummy!

I heard he was killed in a 4 wheeler accident back about 20 years ago.  Not sure of the date!  It was very very Sad to hear that!  I thought it might be a rumor but it was not when i talked to his brother John Sommer on facebook.

RIP  Robert Sommer / I think he was born in Gtmo back in 1963 not sure but I think.  I know the Sommers lived there a long time.

Robert was my lifelong Gitmo friend and literally my next door neighbor.  We've known Robert and his family since the late 1960's.  Although he passed away long ago, I frequently think about him.  We literally grew up together in the paradise that is Gitmo.  I keep in touch with his Mom Ransy and his brother John.  They live in the Leesburgh, Florida area.  Rest in peace my friend!

Robert was my best friend. In fact, he was the best friend I've ever had. He and I had sooo very many adventures together. Even after we graduated we worked together at Burns & Roe. Either he was at my room or I was at his. If ever I could say "I love you, bro" to someone, it would definitly be him. I still think about you all of the time and miss you...

I was so sad when I had hear of Robert's death. He will always be special to me. I think he knew it even though I never told him. Thank you, Robert and you know why. I love you.

I think all the girls had a crush on Robert (all the Summers' boys).  In high school I always thought he was way out of my league to even flirt with him.  I returned to Gtmo in 1983/84 after having joined the Navy and ran into Robert just before he was going back to the states for a vacation.  He said he would look me up and we would go out on a date when he returned but I never heard from him.  A few months later I heard about the accident.  I couldn't believe it.  It was the first time I truly realized how fleeting life can be.  Carpe Diem!!

RIP Robert.
