Victor Thomas - Class Of 1962

Victor L. Thomas was born in Guantanamo, Cuba to Charles and Florence Thomas on April 16, 1944. Victor was the first of five children, with four sisters Olidia, Silvia, Maria,Lucia and one brother named Denis. At the age of 16, Victor immigrated to the United States Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. While living there he met his soul mate, Mirtha when she visited in 1971. They were engaged and married 1972 . He was a devoted husband to his wife and family. Victor gained the nick-name of Cuban Ambassador while in Guantanamo Bay Naval Base because of his efforts to assist immigrants and other people seeking better opportunities for themselves and their families in the United States. He was strong and persistent in his quest to help many people despite some adversities and challenges he encountered . He was always ready and able to help, even when he did not have an answer. As an ambassador ,Victor would go over and above to get directions ,and assist those who needed help. Victor was a civil service employee for thirty-eight years as an Electronic Technician in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He received several merit awards for his work and dedication in this field. He retired with high accolades in 1998 and relocated to the State of Florida.

Victor is survived by his wife Mirtha, sisters Olidia, Silvia and husband Veranes, Maria, four nieces Glynnis, Emily, Yanelis, Yamilka,OscarJr.,Oliver,Andres and a host of family and friends.
