Henry Louis Meyer passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016, with his wife, Mary, at his side.He died of cancer. 

Henry is the child of Robert and Ida Meyer, both of whom preceded him in death. 

Henry received a bachelor's degree from Brooks Institute School of Photographic Arts and Science, Santa Barbara, California. He received a master's degree in systems management from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California. 

Henry loved to travel, and his passion was photography. He was able to combine these two loves with a career working for the Department of Defense. He spent 16 years in Germany working at Headquarters United States Army Europe and Seventh Army Heidelberg, West Germanym on the Energy Conservation Program. 

He was awarded two Presidential Citations for exceptional accomplishments in energy efficiency in the federal sector. He finished his career working as an information technologist for the Department of Defense Education Activity at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; and Okinawa, Japan. 

He was fortunate to have chosen a career that allowed him and his wife, Mary, the opportunity to travel the world and visit many unique and exotic places. 

Henry always with a camera in his hand. Along the way, they met many a wandering traveler and made many lifetime friends. 

Henry retired from federal service in 2007. He spent his retirement traveling with Mary, golfing with his buddies, wandering and photographing the picturesque Pacific Northwest, and volunteering for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for abused and neglected children. 

He was active in the Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph's Church. He was also an Elk and a member of the International Footprinters Association. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kubas-Meyer; three brothers, Robert, Joseph and Michael Meyer; and two sisters, Virginia Meyer and Florence Hulsey.
