Anna “Elaine” Campbell Morrison Hayden passed away March 20, 2009 at Baldwin Health Care and Rehab, Baldwin City, KS. Memorial Services will be 4:00 pm Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Edgerton United Methodist Church in Edgerton, KS. Inurnment will take place at Gardner Cemetery at a later date. Elaine was born in Edgerton, KS on December 17, 1911 to William Edward and Martha Elizabeth DeTar Campbell. She attended Edgerton schools and graduated from Edgerton Rural High School in 1929. She attended Pittsburgh State University and the Kansas City Teachers College. Her first teaching jobs were at Black Jack, Douglas County, and South Park in Kansas City, KS. 

She married Samuel Morrison in 1940 and they resided in San Diego, CA until Sam’s death in 1943. After a brief stay in Kansas, Elaine moved to Seattle, WA to work at the Boeing factory for the next year. She returned to teaching elementary students at Valley Elementary in Kent, WA. During this time she married Joseph Hayden. After a divorce in 1961 she began teaching military children overseas. She taught in Okinawa, Japan; Kitzengen, Germany; Tripoli, Lybia; Ethiopia, Africa; Kenitra, Morocco; Izmir, Turkey; Naples, Italy; Seoul, South Korea; and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Elaine retired at the age of 81 and returned to Edgerton. She continued to travel after retirement and shared her stories with friends and family. She cherished her many friendships here and around the world. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bill and Max Campbell. Elaine is survived by her sister in law, Virginia Campbell of Mesquite, TX; and her nieces and nephews, Maxine Campbell Klamm, DeSoto, David Campbell, San Antonio, TX, Carolyn Campbell Hammon, Edgerton, Marsha Campbell Pittman, Early, TX, Steven Campbell, Jenks, OK, Neil Campbell, Centerville, KS, Anita Campbell, Mesquite, TX; great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews; great great great nieces and nephews and beloved friends around the world.
