Esther Hatfield

assed away peacefully on May 1, 2017 in Portage. She was born on August 30, 1935 in Portage. She was the daughter of Raymond and Hilda (Hufford) Boley. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lloyd Hatfield; sisters, Charlotte Chrisko and Delores Boley, and a brother, Paul Boley. Esther is survived by her daughter, Terrace Cook; stepson, Robert Hatfield and wife Audrey; 4 grandchildren, and sisters, Ruth wife of Lowell Seabolt, and Rose James , and brothers, Don Boley and wife Edith and Paul Miterko, and numerous nieces and nephews. Esther joined the Womens Army Corps in 1955, served at Ft. Lee, Virginia and Ft. Hamilton, New York, and she received Honorable Discharge in 1957. She received her Bachelors Degree and Teaching Credentials from St. Francis University in Loretto, PA and her Masters Degree in Education from Southern Illinois University. She entered Federal Service as an elementary school teacher and principal for the Department of Defense Overseas Dependent Schools, serving in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, St. Johns, Antiqua; Greenham Commons, London, England; Soesterburg, The Netherlands; and SHAPE (NATO), Brussels, Belgium. Esther was a member of St. Bartholomew Church in Wilmore. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and bingo and spending time with her family. Her beautiful smile and sunny personality will be missed by all. . The Family would like to extend a special thanks to Maple Winds Care Center in Portage for their care and support.
