In Memory

Clara Sze (Tao) - Class Of 1986

Kar Wai Clara Tao passed away after an eight-month-long battle with cancer. She remained strong and positive and continued to fight until the very end. With this determined outlook on life, she inspired many close to her to always work hard and never give up no matter the circumstances.

Clara was born in Hong Kong and lived an adventurous life in Japan then Cuba, where she graduated as valedictorian of her high school, and finally moved to the United States to pursue a college degree at the California University of Pennsylvania. She also continued her education at Florida State University, pursuing a Masters and Ph.D. in Food Science and Nutrition. After earning her doctorate, she went on a new adventure to Northern California where she would marry her husband David Tao and start a family.

However, she still remained invested in her work as she was a well-known and respected individual within the food science community and strengthened her position through her work at Safeway, Jamba Juice, and finally Tragon Corporation. At Tragon, her hard work and dedication to her clients allowed her to rise to the position of VP of Sensory and Consumer Insight.

Along with being a respected individual among her co-workers and educational field, she also was a caring mom and a loving wife. Clara is survived by her devoted husband David Tao, her two daughters Mariah and Megan Tao, her mother Margaret Sze, and her brother Joseph Sze. Her time with her family was cherished by all of them and her spirit and passion for life will always be with them.

Memorial Donations may be made in her name to Carlmont Swimming, Attn: Jim Kelly, 1400 Alameda de las Pulgas, Belmont, CA 94002.
