Daryl Buck - Class Of 1977

Daryl Alan Buck was born January 18, 1959 in Corpus Christi, Texas. The son of a Naval Officer, he moved throughout the United States every few years, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He was a Boy Scout, a Sea Scout and later became an Eagle Scout. While in Cuba, Daryl was one of 12,000 Scouts who attended the Boy Scout World Gymboree in Idaho in 1967. An avid baseball player, he shined in his position as shortstop, a position he still played as an adult. Daryl graduated with honors from Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, FL and later attended Florida Southern College where he graduated with a B.S. in Business Marketing. While at Florida Southern, he was in the Army ROTC. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1973 as an Ensign. He was designated a Naval Flight Officer for the A-3 community in Rota, Spain, serving four years. He then joined the Naval Reserve as a Lieutenant. Daryl established his civilian career as a marine surveyor, working for Toplis & Harding, a subsidiary of Lloyds of London. After several years Daryl set out on his own and established his company in 2007, DB Marine, a maritime surveyor company based in Pompano Beach, FL. Daryl enjoyed baseball, bowling deep sea fishing and golf. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 10:30 AM in the Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home followed by committal at Jacksonville National Cemetery
